Eden of the East
Dear Delilah Florist began in Donna Hicks’s home-based studio in Morwell. Floristry experience gathered in Melbourne and Gippsland shaped daily flowers and wedding work as the business grew.
Early in 2018, the studio opened onto Commercial Road. Donna renovated a former hobby shop and brought the work into Morwell’s main street. The new doorway gave the business a public address and gave passers-by a direct encounter with its botanical practice.
Fresh flowers and foliage fill the most immediate part of that practice. Their colours, forms and textures respond to a birthday, wedding, farewell or everyday act of care. The shop also brings indoor plants, terrariums and giftware into the same creative setting.
Everlasting botanical work carries the material language into a longer life. A fresh stem changes from day to day. A terrarium continues as a small living composition. Preserved flowers hold colour and form over time. Together they give people several ways to bring botanical beauty into a room or share it with someone else.
The shopfront makes local skill visible. Arrangements leave for homes, ceremonies and gatherings across Gippsland, while the place of making remains present in central Morwell. The windows, doorway and displays connect the finished work to a local enterprise people can recognise and return to.
Dear Delilah opens a Power of Colour story through fresh flowers, lush foliage, plants, terrariums and everlasting pieces.
It also brings Eden of the East Foundation’s Garden City lens to street level. Creative work with growing and gathered materials places nature and beauty inside the everyday life of Morwell’s centre. Commercial Road gains a place where botanical form meets human occasions, local skill and daily choice.
Dear Delilah’s story moves from a home studio to a visible Commercial Road shopfront. The work opened onto the town, and colour found another doorway into daily life.
