Slow down beside the wetlands at Toongabbie, where easy local paths meet the open journey of the Gippsland Plains Rail Trail.
The experience
The wetlands sit across from Toongabbie township and make an easy nature stop for walkers, families and birdwatchers. Short paths move through the wetland setting, while the adjoining rail trail gives visitors the option to extend the outing into the surrounding plains.
Parking is beside the CFA station on the Traralgon–Maffra Road. Picnic tables and grassed areas make it comfortable to stay a while, and public toilets are a short distance away at the Village Green in Cowen Street.
