Eric Lubcke Yarra Gum Conservation Reserve
Meet a rare remnant of the Latrobe Valley’s original vegetation in a small Morwell reserve with outsized conservation value.
The experience
Eric Lubcke Yarra Gum Conservation Reserve protects approximately 3.1 hectares of native vegetation near Maryvale Crescent. Its Yarra Gum community is one of only a handful known in Gippsland and is regarded as one of the region’s most important remaining examples.
The endangered Matted Flax-lily adds to the reserve’s ecological significance. This is a place for quiet observation and respect for sensitive habitat rather than extensive facilities; remain on established access, avoid disturbing vegetation and treat the reserve’s small scale as part of its value.
