Come and Play Croquet

About

Swap the couch for the croquet lawn and discover one of Australia's most underrated strategic sports right here in Morwell. Low-impact, sociable, and genuinely addictive, croquet is the kind of game that surprises first-timers with just how much thinking is involved.

The Morwell Croquet Club welcomes players of all ages and abilities to its courts at the Travers Street Recreation Reserve. Whether you're looking for gentle rehabilitation activity, a mentally engaging pastime, or simply something fun and different to do mid-week and on weekends, the club has an open door — and the first three visits are completely free, with all equipment supplied.

Croquet is played on a level green using mallets and balls, combining careful positioning, forward-thinking strategy, and a good dose of friendly competition. Men and women compete side by side on equal footing, making it a genuinely inclusive sport. All you need to bring is flat-soled shoes and a willingness to give it a go.

Regular participation at community sporting clubs like Morwell Croquet Club strengthens social bonds across Latrobe City, keeps residents active, and sustains the volunteer-led organisations that make regional life richer. Croquet in particular offers an accessible entry point for older residents or those returning to activity after injury.

The club plays every Wednesday and Saturday from 9:30am. Just roll up to the Morwell Croquet Club at Travers Street Recreation Reserve — no bookings required. For more information, call 0422 273 617.
