Threads carry stories, and at Latrobe Regional Gallery this August, four artists and a curator gather to share theirs. This free talk offers a rare chance to hear directly from the people behind one of the region's most thoughtful textile projects.
Gathered Threads: Lyrical Practices brings together artists Dijanne Cevaal, Cheryl Cook, Robina Summers, and Sarah Louise Ricketts, alongside curator Juan Rodriguez Sandoval. The project began five years ago with a shared curiosity about textiles and fabric as a lyrical, expressive medium, and has grown steadily into a rich body of collaborative work that marks its fifth anniversary with this exhibition.
Visitors can expect a warm, unhurried conversation that moves across the project's origins, its evolving creative process, and the materials and ideas at its heart. The Meet the Artist format is intentionally casual and participatory, so audience members are encouraged to ask questions, join the discussion, and engage directly with the artists and curator throughout the hour.
Talks like this one are central to how Latrobe Regional Gallery connects the wider Latrobe City community with contemporary art practice. By keeping entry free and the format accessible and conversational, the gallery makes space for people of all ages and backgrounds to feel welcome, informed, and part of the creative conversation happening in their own region.
The talk runs from 11am to 12pm on Saturday 15 August 2026 at Latrobe Regional Gallery, 138 Commercial Road, Morwell. Entry is free and suited to all ages. For more information, contact the gallery on (03) 5128 5700.
