Get your hands on timber, wire and wax and walk away with skills that will serve your hives for years to come. The Latrobe Valley Beekeepers Association is opening its doors for a practical, beginner-friendly frame building session.
Hosted by the LVBA at its club rooms on Saviges Road in Moe, this workshop is designed to give beekeepers — new and experienced alike — the confidence to prepare their own hive frames rather than relying on pre-assembled kits. Registration is essential as places are strictly limited, though guests are welcome to join on the night without pre-registering.
Attendees will work through the full frame-building process across three key skills: constructing timber frames from scratch, wiring them with professional tension and precision, and embedding beeswax foundation sheets ready for the colony. Instructors will guide participants through each stage so everyone leaves with a finished product and repeatable technique.
Supporting local beekeeping knowledge strengthens the agricultural and environmental fabric of Latrobe City. Events like this one help growers and hobby beekeepers build self-sufficiency, reduce costs and connect with a wider community of people passionate about bees and sustainable land management.
