Glittering stones cut from the earth, crafted into jewellery and display pieces, fill the Churchill Football and Netball Club for two days of discovery. Whether you are a seasoned collector or simply curious, the Gem Show offers something to catch every eye.
The Gem Show is hosted by the Morwell Lapidary Club Inc, a local club dedicated to the art and science of working with rocks, minerals, and gemstones. The event brings together club members and traders to share their passion with the wider community and showcase the remarkable variety of specimens found in our region and across Australia.
Visitors can browse and buy gemstones, minerals, jewellery, and handcrafted display pieces from a range of traders across the two days. The show also demonstrates how raw stones are cut, polished, and transformed into wearable art and decorative items, giving attendees a real sense of the skill and patience behind lapidary work.
Events like this strengthen the connection between Latrobe City residents and the natural heritage beneath their feet. By spotlighting locally sourced specimens alongside Australian-wide finds, the Gem Show fosters pride in the region's geological richness and supports a community of makers and collectors who keep these traditional crafts alive.
The Gem Show runs Saturday 3 October from 10am to 5pm and Sunday 4 October from 10am to 4pm at the Churchill Football and Netball Club on Manning Drive, Churchill. Entry is $5, with children under 12 admitted free. For more information, contact the Morwell Lapidary Club Inc at [email protected].
