Every second Wednesday afternoon in Morwell, a warm and welcoming table is laid where people from all walks of life come together to share a meal, a story, and a moment of genuine connection. The GMS Multicultural Lunch, Conversations & Connections is a monthly gathering that turns a simple shared lunch into something far richer.

Hosted by the GMS Diversity Group, this free and child-friendly community event is built around values of respect, inclusiveness, equity and diversity. Booking is required to attend, and guests are encouraged to bring their own lunch or something to share with the group.

Attendees can expect a lively afternoon of cultural exchange — sharing recipes, languages, ideas, experiences and skills — all in a relaxed, inclusive setting. Children are welcome, making this an accessible event for families from all backgrounds who want to meet their neighbours and broaden their horizons.

For the Latrobe City community, this monthly gathering plays a meaningful role in building trust, understanding, support networks and cross-cultural friendships. It is a practical expression of what it means to be a multicultural region, fostering belonging for newcomers and long-term residents alike.
