About
Skating is back on the agenda, and this time it is all about fun, fitness, and good company. Gippy Girls Can – SkateFit is a free evening session designed to get women moving in a low-pressure, welcoming environment.
Run by Gippsland Ranges Roller Derby, this session is part of the broader Gippy Girls Can initiative, which encourages women and girls across the region to try new activities and stay active. The organisers bring genuine expertise and a supportive community spirit to every event they run.
Participants aged 16 and over can expect two hours of skating at their own pace, surrounded by others doing the same. Skates and protective gear are available to borrow, so there is no need to own equipment. Just bring a mouth guard or purchase one on the night, and you are ready to roll — whether you are a first-timer or a seasoned skater.
Events like this one play an important role in Latrobe City by creating inclusive spaces where women can be active, connect with others, and try something outside their comfort zone, all without cost being a barrier. They also help shine a spotlight on local sporting communities like Gippsland Ranges Roller Derby.
The session runs from 6pm to 8pm on Monday 14 September 2026 at Latrobe Leisure Churchill — aim to arrive by 5.45pm to get set up. Entry is free and registration is required. Contact Sarah at Gippsland Ranges Roller Derby via [email protected] for more information.
