Roller skates on, confidence up — this free one-hour session gives kids and teens a hands-on taste of roller derby in a fun, supportive setting. Whether they have never skated before or are already comfortable on wheels, there is something new to discover.
Gippy Girls Can is a community initiative run by the Gippsland Rangers Roller Derby, a local club dedicated to making the sport of roller derby accessible to girls and young people across the region. This session is part of their ongoing effort to introduce the next generation to skating in a safe and encouraging environment.
Participants will learn the fundamentals of roller skating and pick up some cool tricks guided by experienced Rangers members. All skates and protective gear are provided on the day, so families do not need to worry about sourcing equipment. The only thing to bring is a mouth guard, or one can be purchased at the venue.
Events like this strengthen the sporting culture of Latrobe City by connecting young people with active, community-led clubs and giving girls a pathway into a sport that values teamwork, resilience, and fun.
