Steaming bowls of pasta, glistening meatballs and golden garlic bread bring the convivial warmth of an Italian kitchen to Morwell for the grand finale of the Cultural Food Festival. It is the kind of cooking that has built community for generations — simple, generous and deeply satisfying.
The Italian session closes out four consecutive Tuesdays of cultural dining at Morwell Neighbourhood House, the culminating event of a series supported by the Victoria State Government. Each week has honoured a different community's food traditions, and Italian cuisine brings the series to a rich and celebratory close.
Attendees can savour classic Italian comfort food — pasta bathed in rich tomato sauce, tender meatballs, crusty garlic bread and the pleasure of a leisurely midday meal shared with the wider community. The Italian community in Latrobe Valley has deep roots in the region, making this a homecoming as much as a celebration.
As the final session of the festival, this event is also a moment to reflect on what four weeks of shared meals have built — new friendships, broadened horizons and a stronger sense of what makes Latrobe City such a distinctive and vibrant place to live.
